Using the WISH Clinic:
When and where is the clinic open?
WISH Clinic is open on Sundays from 1:30 – 4:30 pm at Mount Carmel Clinic, located at 886 Main Street in the Point Douglas community in Winnipeg, MB.
Is there any charge to receive care?
All services provided by the WISH Clinic (including food, social activity, computer use, safe space, clinical care) are free.
Getting Involved:
This sounds great! How can I help out?
We always need more people! If you are a student, check out our page for Students. If you are a healthcare professional, please check out our page for Mentors.
I am not a health-care student, can I still be involved?
We take students from all faculties and departments. Though only health-care students may take part in clinical teams, all students are part of the social team.
Clinic Operation:
How is follow-up care be provided to patients?
Because the student clinic only opens on Sundays, we rely on our host clinic, Mount Carmel Clinic to follow up with test results and other care. We can provide referrals to specialists as needed.
How are students supervised?
Though the clinic is student-run, each shift is staffed with the clinic coordinator, administrative clerk, security guard, and several professional mentors. Our goal is to have a physician on-site at every shift, with rotating support from professionals from dentistry, social work, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, spiritual care and other health faculties. The number of healthcare students scheduled to participate in the clinic will be limited to allow for optimal supervision levels, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care.
